About Region

Fethiye

Its history, as we said, goes back five thousand years BC. The ancient city of Telmessos dates back to 3000 BC. Located on the border of Lycia and Caria, this city fought especially with the Lycians for independence, and although it resisted for a long time, it could not resist the Persian attack. As a result of this, the name of the settlement, which was under the auspices of the Persians, Alexander the Great, Seleucids, Rome, Byzantium, and finally the Ottoman Empire since 1424, was changed to Fethiye, in honor of Fethi Bey, one of our first air martyrs, whose plane crashed in 1914.

Oludeniz

Oludeniz (Blue Lagoon) Blue Lagoon National Park is the part of the place where you see the photos, which looks like a pool. There is an entrance fee and it is a private protection area. The National Park has many facilities such as showers, toilets, buffets, cafes and sun loungers. Since it is far from the wave effect of the sea, you can swim comfortably with your children in the section, which has the air of a salty lake, and enjoy the water that does not get deep immediately. There are also hotels around the lagoon for accommodation.

Kayakoy

Kayaköy is a historical settlement where you can go on the village road that comes after continuing from the marina at the end of Fethiye center. Before you reach Kayaköy, do not miss seeing the rock tombs and settlements similar to those in the ancient city of Myra, which you come across at the beginning of the road. Before you fall under the magic of Kayaköy, there will be a little preparation for you.

Before describing the present state of Kayaköy, let’s talk about its history. Kayaköy, about which many documentaries have been made and has been the subject of many news, was founded years ago as a Greek village. The whole city was built with chipped rocks. Although the city settlement started here about 5000 years ago, the houses were built in the 1800s.
